Tibyan ("the App") is developed by Tekchbila Studios. This privacy policy explains how the App handles your data.

Summary

Tibyan is designed with privacy as a core principle. The App works offline after an initial content download and does not require an account. We collect minimal, anonymous usage analytics to improve the app. No personal information is collected.

Data We Collect

Anonymous Usage Analytics

Tibyan uses PostHog (EU-hosted, GDPR-compliant) to collect anonymous usage analytics. This helps us understand how the App is used and identify areas for improvement. The data collected includes:

App interactions — which features are used (e.g., reading modes, script selection), reading session duration, and navigation patterns. No verse content or reading positions are transmitted.
Crash data — anonymous crash reports to help us fix bugs.
Performance data — app launch times and general performance metrics.

This data is:

Not linked to your identity — no names, emails, phone numbers, or accounts.
Not used for tracking — not shared with advertisers or third parties.
Not sold — ever.
Processed in the EU — PostHog's EU cloud (eu.posthog.com) is used for GDPR compliance.

Analytics data is only sent over WiFi on iOS to minimize data usage.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted:

Reading preferences (font size, theme, numeral style)
Reading position (last surah and verse read)
Onboarding selections (language, script preference)
Downloaded Quran script packs

Data We Do NOT Collect

Personal information (name, email, phone number)
Location data
Contacts or photos
Advertising identifiers
Health or financial data
User-generated content

Network Connections

Tibyan makes network connections only for:

Downloading Quran script packs — a one-time download from our CDN (Amazon CloudFront). No personal data is transmitted during this download.
Sending anonymous analytics — as described above, over WiFi only on iOS.

After the initial script download, the App functions fully offline.

Children's Privacy

Tibyan does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The App does not require an account and collects no personal information from any user.

Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. Reading preferences and downloaded content are stored only on your device and can be removed by uninstalling the App.

If you are in the EU/EEA, you have rights under the GDPR. Since our analytics are anonymous and not linked to any individual, they do not constitute personal data under GDPR. However, if you have any concerns, please contact us.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last updated" date.
